Mark Albiston’s latest work for Vodafone from DDB New Zealand, ‘Huxley’ received five stars from David Reviews. Read the review below.

Vodafone – “Huxley”

This poignant outing for Vodafone’s New Zealand arm explores just one way 5G can make the world a better place. With greater connection comes an easier sharing of resources – something an elderly gent finds out the hard way when his beloved pooch falls ill.

There’s a lovely stillness to this film, as subdued family time with the sickly dog and his struggling owner is interspersed with shots of a man trying to navigate rainy city streets in a hurry. The connection isn’t immediately clear, but the emotional tone of the film leads us to trust that there’s hope on the horizon.

While the old man/sick pet trope is a familiar method of tugging on an audience’s heartstrings, the lovely performances from the family mean we feel genuine relief when it’s revealed that Huxley has, in fact, made it – thanks to a surgeon able to dial in remotely via the advertised network. Charming work which uses all of its 120″ runtime for maximum emotional pay off.
