A Little Change Can Change A Lot
Adding explosives into a script isn’t something to take lightly. But to build on this metaphor of the domino, where a tiny push can have drastic consequences, concrete slabs as high as six metres and weighing over a ton were rigged with explosives to shatter on impact. Determined to shoot it for real, Joel put his trust in mathematics, physics and a team who had just two attempts to get it right. The result is a spectacular visual narrative, composed all in camera, minus some subtle comp work here and there.
